"In this volume, we offer a modest contribution to developing this concept of music as an environmental art of wayfarers. This environment is a contextual field; it is not a place or an object separate from ourselves. The central controlling concept is musical experience and the many ways by which – as demonstrated by the rigorous and sensitive review of Ramon Santos’ musical works – musical sounds are shaped, organized and developed in a way that will clue readers to the musical elements’ nuances and transformation. In the Life of a Song, we are afforded a glimpse of how musical events are produced “behind the scenes” and the many struggles and triumphs of independent practitioners. In Adoring the Aidoru, we are provided with insights on how performers are “produced” and valued in the context of celebrity culture, and how these products are repackaged and remediated within the complex aesthetics of fandom. In Dance and Play in Musical Education, learners physically feel pulse and atmospheric vibrations of different meters, their bodies moving in sync with each other, making the tiny sensory corrections as they move along and with the music within an aesthetic and perceptual field that is also a creative and pedagogical one."
